EXAMPLES
Upper left corner photo, against wall from right to left:
- (Right) a rescued wheel that was totally stripped of layers of paint, fitted with
Ashford mechanicals so it would work, and refinished in Williamsburg colors with
ceramic and brass hardware [she is named "Doris" after the lady who gave it to
us and challenged us with, "It will never work."]; - (Middle) an Ashford Traditional finished in tung
oil and polyurethane; - (Left Background) an Ashford Traveller and Chair finished in dark
Jacobian stain, gold filigree decorative hand painted touches, and polyurethane.
Other three photos detail an Ashford Kiwi, where the natural
New Zealand beech wood is simply coated with polyurethane, and the wheel is
finished in two tone sponged black on black, and sheep ornaments are
stenciled all around, covered with polyurethane.
If you keep scrolling
down, you will see even more versions of the
versatile Ashford Kiwi wheel, where Jeff has used it as a type of "canvas" for
expression, creating even more new and different artistic looks in a spinning
wheel for Miss Joanne. Be sure to scroll all the way down, you won't want
to miss a thing.

We take our time, since we are artisans.

And we offer no guarantees, but we do try our best to meet your expectations,

presenting Crayon
FOR THE
YOUNG AT HEART
Miss Joanne has the first and only Crayon #1
(seen elsewhere on this site).
Here
you see the clear acrylic wheel and black peddles for Crayon #06-002,
while the color choices for the body pieces are up to the purchaser of
Artist-Numbered #2 and beyond.
Notice,
this wheel has smaller center holes than Miss Joanne's. We're always
trying unique and different ideas.
Other limited color choices in wheels exist - as well as limited color
choices for foot peddles - which could be combined with other finishing
techniques - if you're young & brave enough to ask.
If Crayon #2 is different from what you desire, but you have other ideas,
post us with an eMail and maybe we can develop something for you. Just be
patient, these custom wheels take some time to develop and produce.

GREAT
COUNTRY DECORATING
Miss Joanne is afraid to do anymore
watering; she has enough Kiwi wheels.
Joanne's
family is very craft oriented, and the women of the family practice several
different artistic skills amongst themselves.
One of those gals is Joanne's sister-in-law, Cathy.
While Cathy is an accomplished seamstress and avid quilter, she is also
something of an interior decorator, and she successfully works in several
artistic mediums.
Several years ago she gave a present to Joanne of a
wonderfully painted watering can. Joanne uses the country-styled can for
decorating during summer seasons, and the festive yellow background with bright
flower arrangements all around has always caught Jeff's eye.
He plotted for several years with Cathy and finally they were
able to collaborate and bring together their skills, making this wonderful
rendition of a Kiwi spinning wheel for Joanne.
The MDF (medium density fiberboard) wheel of an Ashford Kiwi
wheel is precisely laser cut and balanced by Ashford, and it lends itself to all
sorts of artistic renditions as a blank palette begging to be expressed upon.
The surrounding New Zealand silver beech wood is so sturdy and tight-grained,
and it is a magnificent way to frame the artistic wheel, with other forms of
stains, finishes and accents.
What practical and functional decorating, country at its
best!
Now all we need is a matching antique butter churn
